Second Lansford shooting suspect in jail

A second suspect in a Wednesday night shooting in Lansford is in jail.

Reality Donte Lopez, 22, of East Front Street, Lansford, turned himself into police Thursday evening, and police recovered the gun believed to be used in the shooting.

Lopez was arraigned by District Judge William J. Kissner on charges of aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, terroristic threats, simple assault and reckless endangerment and remanded to the Carbon County jail without bail.

Police arrested another suspect, Elijah X. Lopez, 20, also of East Front Street, Lansford, shortly after the shooting on East Water Street, and is also being held without bail o the same charges.

Lansford police responded to a report of a shooting around 6:30 p.m., when the victim said Reality and Elijah Lopez came to her home and fired a handgun about five times, court papers said.

Police began to search the area, after learning the two men ran off, possibly in the direction of Family Dollar. Officers found two men fitting the description in the 500-block of East Abbott Street, and they fled as police approached, court papers said. Police lost sight of them as they cut through a yard, and then one of the two men, later identified as Elijah Lopez, ran toward the officer, while the other ran south through yards, court papers said.

Elijah Lopez was ordered to the ground, and threw a small black item onto the ground, which he had pulled from his pocket before complying. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The item that he dropped to the ground was a Solofish weapon-mounted light with a green laser attachment, court paper said.

Police continued to search for the other suspect, Reality Lopez, until his surrender Thursday evening. A warrant for his arrest had been issued earlier in the day.

A neighbor reported hearing a loud argument before the shots rang out Wednesday night.

The victim told police that the Lopezes came to her door around 6:30 p.m., when she heard arguing outside. She told investigators her boyfriend got in between Reality and Elijah Lopez, and Reality Lopez pulled out a small handgun and pointed it at her, court papers said.

Reality Lopez told her to turn around and she ran into the house. The victim then heard the first gunshot, followed by several more, court papers said.

Police collected eight empty, 9 mm Luger shell casing from the scene.
