State Police in Stroudsburg reported on two thefts:

• A 56-year-old Effort woman reported that money she wired to her mother was intercepted.

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks said they were called to Scarlet Oak Drive in Chestnuthill Township to investigate the incident that happened at 12:49 a.m. April 25.

Police said the victim reported she wired approximately $700 from her Western Union Bank account to her mother who lives in Africa but the transaction was intercepted.

• Police also reported investigating a theft by deception incident.

A Hamilton Township woman reported told them she received a pop-up from Microsoft advising her that her computer was hacked and providing instructions to unlock it. The victim said she called a fraudulent number and spoke to a man, who told her she needed to take money out of her bank account to fix the computer issue.

The woman said she withdrew approximately $12,500 from two different PNC bank locations in the Stroudsburg area, depositing the money into the Bitcoin Wallet located at the Stroud Area Mall.
