3 dead in motorcycle crashes over the weekend
Three people were killed in separate motorcycle crashes over the weekend.
A motorcyclist was killed Sunday night when involved in a crash along Route 248 in Palmerton. The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. as the biker was traveling east about a half mile east of the Bowmanstown exit.
Area fire companies and fire police maintained traffic control at the scene, shutting down the roadway east bound lanes at Bowmanstown.
Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller said the victim was male but he did not have an identity until after the autopsy.
Palmerton police are investigating the incident.
Crash in Chestnuthill
One person is dead after a Saturday afternoon motorcycle crash in Chestnuthill Township.
The crash happened shortly after 3 p.m. on Route 715, a quarter mile north of the intersection with Cottontail Lane.
Reports from the scene are a motorcycle and pickup truck were involved.
Monroe County Coroner Tom Yanac Jr. said the deceased is Zachary Englehardt, 26, of Stroudsburg.
Yanac said an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
State police are investigating.
Crash in Smithfield
One person is dead after a Saturday evening motorcycle crash in Monroe County.
The crash happened at around 8:40 p.m. in the area of Milford Road near Airport Road in Smithfield Township.
William M. Hill, 20, of Middle Smithfield Township, was the operator of a motorcycle in collision with a motor vehicle.
Hill was pronounced dead at 11:23 a.m. Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg.
The cause of death is multiple blunt force injuries due to motor vehicle collision.
In addition to the coroner’s office, this death is being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police, Stroudsburg Station and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
