State police at Lehighton - crashes

State police at Lehighton reported on area crashes:

• Two vehicles sustained minor damages in a crash at 11:55 a.m. April 29 on Route 534 in Polk Township. No one was injured.

Police said a 2007 Hyundai Sonata was northbound when it rounded a curve, crossed over the double yellow lines and struck a 2019 Toyota Tundra that was southbound.

• Tara L. Strepp, 33, of Nazareth, sustained suspected minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 3:45 p.m. April 28 on Mountain Road in Ross Township.

Police said she was operating a 2016 Fiat eastbound when it struck a log in the roadway. She lost control of the car, which left the roadway, traveled up an embankment and rolled onto its roof.

The car sustained disabling damages.

• Arelis T. Guzman, 25, of Allentown, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 9:06 a.m. April 25 on Frederick’s Grove Road in Mahoning Township.

Police said she was driving a 2007 Toyota Scion east when she lost control on a right-hand curve in the road. The car traveled through the curve, left the road and struck a large tree on the opposite side shoulder.

The car was moderately damaged and was towed from the scene, police said.

• Police said a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado needed to be towed from the scene of a mishap at 9:31 p.m. April 27 on Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East (Route 443) in Mahoning Township.

Police said John C. Dicrecchio, 63, of Lehighton, was driving the vehicle eastbound when it struck a deer that attempted to cross the roadway.

He was uninjured, police said.

• Alex A. Aponte, 31, of Effort, was cited with a stop/yield sign violation after a two-vehicle crash at 10:25 a.m. May 4 at the intersection of Weir Mountain and Mountain View roads in Polk Township.

Police said he sustained possible injuries but was not transported to an area hospital. The driver of the other vehicle, Frank C. Refsnider, 58, of East Stroudsburg, was injured. He was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital-Monroe, by personnel from the West End Ambulance Service.

Police said the crash occurred when Aponte, driving a 2019 Nissan Rogue eastbound on Mountain View Drive, failed to stop for a stop sign and traveled directly into the path of a 2023 Dodge Ram truck operated by Refsnider, who was southbound on Weir Mountain Road at the time.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene, police said.
