Local Roundup: Results from May 12
Panther Valley defeated Shenandoah Valley on Friday to claim the Rothermel Tournament title.
In other action, Weatherly’s softball team cruised past Lincoln Leadership.
BASEBALL
Panther Valley-Shenandoah
Panther Valley captured the Rothermel Tournament championship by earning a 10-2 victory over Shenandoah Valley.
Michael Pascoe once again had the big bat for the Panthers, going 4-for-5 with a double, homer, two runs and three RBIs. He also closed out the game on the mound, registering the final four outs - all by strikeouts.
Brody Breiner added two hits, one a double, and a run, while Tyler Black finished with a hit, two runs and an RBI.
Brad Hood pitched the first three innings, allowing no hits but giving up a run and two walks. He also registered six strikeouts.
PV ended the regular season at 19-1 and will be facing Blue Mountain Monday in the semifinal round of the Schuylkill League playoffs. The Devils are currently 9-10.

SOFTBALL
Lincoln Leadership-Weatherly
Weatherly’s offense exploded against Lincoln Leadership, rolling to a 20-5 non-league win.
Kameran Strohl had three hits and knocked in five runs, while Madisyn vonFrisch and Ava Sahaida both added three hits and four RBIs.
The Wreckers also received three hits, four runs and an RBI from Rachel Rosenlund. Kelly Michaels contributed three hits, three runs and knocked in one.
The victory upped Weatherly’s record to 12-6, while Lincoln fell to 3-12.

Tri Valley-Tamaqua
Tri-Valley needed a big seven-run sixth inning to knock off upset-minded Tamaqua, 13-7, in non-league action.
The Blue Raiders jumped out to a 6-2 lead on the strength off a six-run second frame but couldn’t hold on against a tough Bulldog team.
Gianna Poletti had four hits and scored for times for the winners, who are now 18-1, while Mia Artz and Mady Schwalm both finished with two hits and three RBIs.
For Tamaqua, which closed its season with a 6-14 mark, Hailey Williams collected two hits, two runs and four RBIs. Paige Bumbulsky added a hit and knocked in three runs.
