The May Democrat primary has two contested races, with several candidates running for the Democratic nomination. Two of the candidates have proved themselves to be supportive of all that the Democrats stand for. Although all the candidates running at one time belonged to the Republican Party, only two have supported Democrats for the past several years. In the District Attorney race, I support Donald Leeth, a local attorney who has served Monroe County for many years. He has served in several capacities, giving him a valuable background which would make him a real asset as District Attorney. He has experience as a Public Defender, as a criminal attorney, a family and immigration lawyer and, most importantly, he served as Monroe County’s Assistant District Attorney for 13 years.
In the West End, Debby York is one of three candidates running for district judge. A lifelong resident, she was our judge for 24 years. Let’s get her back into office. She is thoroughly trained and eminently capable. She will ensure that we have an independent judiciary.
For our Pleasant Valley School directors, I support Donna Yozwiak, Peter DeSanto, Erika Engle, Mary Colon and Dayanara Rosa. Each would bring their unique skills and experience to the board. All want to bring transparency and capable governing to the PV board.
