Letter to the Editor: Supports Davis in Packer Township

Let us set the record straight.

Mr. Paul Bray’s Primary announcement for Packer Township Supervisor is very misleading and incorrect. According to his statements, one would think that Packer Township does not spend any funding on road repair.

In 2020, six-tenths of a mile on Wetzel Run was resurfaced for $70,900. In 2021, Moe’s Paving completed a project for $4,464 on pothole patching throughout the township. In 2022, Moe’s Paving secured another $12,198 project through a phone quote limit for pothole patching. Also in 2022, six collapsing culvert crossings were replaced on Wetzel Run Rd for a total of $55,000.00 from COVID funds prior to resurfacing another 6/10 of a mile for $118,000.00 (94,000.00 liquid fuels, balance from the General Fund).

Packer Township is awaiting DEP approvals for the box culvert replacement on Ochre Mill Road, which the supervisors recently applied for a Community Development Block grant. This project will cost a total of $132,000 plus up to $50,000 from the General Fund as the project is entering the bid process.

Major resurfacing projects are planned 1-2 years before completion based on consultation with the township engineer. The current board of supervisors are very judicious on how we spend the taxpayers’ money. All supervisors are elected by the residents of their township to serve everyone to the best of their knowledge. We, as Packer Township supervisors feel that all three supervisors are upholding this oath taken when elected, and therefore fully support Terry Davis for re-election as Packer Township supervisor on May 16.
