Wine on the River is a big success at new location
The 4th Annual Wine On the River on Saturday was a success thanks to beautiful weather and its new location at Baer Memorial Park, Lehighton.
“It’s great, it’s really cool!” Bambi Elsasser, Lehighton Main Street Manager, said of the new venue.
“We have, with food trucks and wineries, about 60 vendors. We have had a great response online about this year’s festival.”
The Lehighton Downtown Partnership hosted the event, which featured 13 wineries, food trucks, crafters, and other vendors.
Wineries that attended included: King Cole Winery; Clever Girl Winery; Lucchi Family Wine Cellars; Benigna’s Creek Vineyard & Winery; Talerico’s Tropical Winery; Capra Collina Vineyard; RAW Winery; Bouchette Vineyards; Sleepy Cat Urban Winery; Wine & More on 1st; Stone Lake Winery; Essiem’s Mead Apiary; Cellar Beast Winehaus.
Wine & More on 1st, from Lehighton, was celebrating its second anniversary at the festival.
“We opened for business two years ago this weekend,” said Mike Henninger, who, with his son, Owen, and Samantha Klotz, own the store at 165 South First Street that is the exclusive seller of Stone Mountain Wine Cellars, a seven-generation family farm from Pine Grove.
“We’ve always liked wine, that’s how we got into it,” Henninger said. “Might as well do something you like.”
Crafters, bakers, candy makers, and other vendors introduced people to their products and services.
Dwaine and Adina Simmons and Jocelyn Decker of Ephrata had a tent set up for their business, LuvLee Creations And More.
“We have customized tumblers, wine tumblers, spinners, wallets, air fresheners, and more,” said Adina Simmons. “We mostly do online sales and festivals like these.”
And there were food trucks including Creek Street, The Meating Wagon, AK Mobile Foods, Ridge Runner Barbecue, Red Robbin, Caribbean Noodles, Parlor Beverages, and Carmeila’s Italian Pastries.
Everyone who purchased an admission ticket was given a complimentary wineglass for taste testing. Visitors could try out the wines before purchasing them.
Entertainment included The Left Edge, Autumn Falls Entertainment, Supersonic Godfathers, and Damian Walck.
The VIP tent sponsor was Home Comfort Solutions. The sponsor of the custom-printed wineglasses was Lehighton Outdoor Center. And the music sponsors were PenTeleData, Blue Ridge Communications, and St. Luke’s Lehighton Campus.
