Lower Towamensing Township residents will be getting their garbage bills soon.

The supervisors hired a new secretary/treasurer in April and officially approved her at their meeting on Monday.

Because the bills are late in going out to the residents, the new bill will cover from April 1 to Dec. 31. Residents have already paid their garbage bills for January through March, said Brent Green, the chairman of the supervisors.

“Basically, the year to date would be $155 for the remainder of the year,” he said.

The garbage bill is $210 per year.

As for next year, the supervisors decided to once a year billing with a 5% discount period if paid early, a regular payment period, and a fine for late payments. Seniors will be offered a 10% discount.
