One person is dead after fleeing police Monday morning in Monroe County.

Pennsylvania State Police Stroudsburg barracks attempted to initiate a traffic stop of a motorcycle after observing a traffic violation in Hamilton Township. Police did not release the exact location of the crash.

The driver of the motorcycle continued to drive, lost control on a curve, drove off the roadway and ultimately struck a utility pole.

Troopers summoned EMS immediately following the crash.

The operator was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation remains active, and updated information will be released when it becomes available, police said.
