Turnpike crashes
State police reported on the following crashes on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
• Dennis G. Bumberger Jr., 48, of Palmerton, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 11:56 a.m. April 19.
State police at the King of Prussia barracks said it happened at mile marker 36.6 in Salford Township.
They said Bumberger was driving a 2005 Ford Focus southbound when he lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid another vehicle that was changing lanes. Police said the Focus traveled from the center lane to the left shoulder, striking the concrete barrier and coming to rest on the left shoulder.
• Christopher Enright, 45, of Port Jefferson Station, New York, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:02 p.m. on April 30 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
State police at the Pocono barracks said he was driving a 2016 Toyota Highlander southbound in Franklin Township (mile marker 79.1) in steady rain and wet highway conditions. Police said he lost control of the vehicle, which struck the center concrete barrier, traveled across both lanes and came to rest on the shoulder of the road.
• A 2011 Hyundai Sonata was damaged when it struck a deer on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike at 10 a.m. on April 27 at mile marker 85.6 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said Joshua S. Steventon, 33, of Lehighton, was northbound when the deer jumped the center concrete medial wall and landed directly in the path of the Sonata.
The driver was uninjured.
• The passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a crash on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike had minor injuries. It happened at mile marker 70.2 in Washington Township.
A 14-year-old girl who was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by Melissa C. Stewart, 33, of Dagsboro, Delaware, was injured. Daquaun Carroll, 32, of Newport News, Virginia. Police did not provide the details of the incident. Neither driver was hurt.
• Javier M. Moore, 58, of Tunkhannock, was cited by state police at the Pocono barracks after a crash at 4:15 p.m. on April 15 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. He was not hurt in the incident.
Police said it happened at mile marker 67.1 in Washington Township when Moore was driving a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. Police said he lost control and the vehicle began to spin counterclockwise, striking the concrete median barrier with its driver’s side front end.
The vehicle sustained disabling damages, police said.
• Jeffrey E. Summerton, 68, of Mullica Hill, New Jersey, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:12 a.m. on April 30 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
State police at the Pocono barracks said he was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital. Police said he had minor injuries.
The crash happened at mile marker 90.2 when Summerton was driving a 1997 BMW northbound in heavy rainfall conditions. Police said the speed he was traveling was likely to be a contributing factor to the cause of the crash.
They said the operator lost control of the BMW, which slid off the roadway onto the grassy berm and crashed into a rock embankment before coming to rest. He was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
The car sustained heavy damages and was towed from the scene, police said.
