Altar & Rosary
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church’s Altar & Rosary Society will meet at 7 p.m.
Volleyball tonight
Effort UMC’s pavilion will host volleyball tonight from 7 to 10 p.m. Guests may watch.
National Day of Prayer
St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, on Route 115, Saylorsburg, will host The National Day of Prayer on Thursday. The church sanctuary will be open for personal prayer beginning at 3 p.m.
Community worship service begins at 7 p.m. This is a nondenominational prayer event.
The entire community is invited to worship at the church and pray for government officials, military, the educational system, families, including children, community volunteers, and spiritual leaders.
Legion meeting
The American Legion Post 927 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Post home in Gilbert tomorrow.
Spring musical
The Pleasant Valley Middle School is holding its spring musical both Friday and Saturday beginning at 7 p.m.
Full moon bog walk
Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center offers full moon bog walk on Thursday. An Environmental Educator will lead the exploration of the bog under the light of a full moon. The walk begins at 6:30 p.m. and participants should bring a flashlight, and appropriate footwear.
Preregistration required and limited. There is a cost. For more information call the Center at 570-629-3061.
Senior lunches
The Chestnuthill Senior Center lunches for Friday and next Wednesday are, respectively: Friday, stuffed shells or tuna salad; next Wednesday, chicken lo mein or taco salad.
For meal reservation call site manager Donna Riedel at 570-242-6770 one day in advance by 11 a.m.
There is a suggested donation.
Spring flea market
The Effort Women’s Group is hosting a spring flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Friendship Day
Church Women United of Monroe County has announced its May Friendship Day celebration as set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at Zion United Church of Christ, 1160 Clause Drive, Stroudsburg.
There will be dessert and coffee/tea after the service.

Spaghetti dinner
Effort UMC is hosting a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, in Wesley Hall, in support in support of Austin’s Blue Line. It is dine in or take out.
Funds realized help support scholarships being offered.
Pick-up reminder
For those who ordered turkey takeout dinners or celery seed dressing from Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the order must be picked up between 4 and 6 p.m. Saturday.
Family fun time
The families of St. Matthew’s UCC are having a Family Fun Night on Saturday at LaRose’s roller skating rink.
Church families are reminded to join others there.
Guest preacher
Effort UMC will have two different clergy fill the pulpit on Sunday. The church’s own Pastor Robin will preach at the 8:30 a.m. service and the area’s District Superintendent, Hun Ju Lee, will preach at the 11 a.m. service. There will be special music at both services.
Soil Conservation Sunday
Salem -St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will celebrate Holy Communion at its 8:30 and 10:30 services with a Litany for Soil Conservation Sunday.
At 11:15 a.m. there will be the annual congregational meeting to elect Council members and review annual reports.
Mary honored
The congregation of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will adorn an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 9 a.m., Sunday, in the Pavilion. The Youth Choir will sing and the FHC student will crown Mary.
All are invited to join in the simple prayer service.
Women’s Group
Effort UMC’s Women’s Group will meet at 7 p.m. in Wesley Hall Monday.
Knit & Crochet
Zion Lutheran’s group of busy needle folks will meet again to work their stitches of caring for others at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Newcomers are welcome.
Diversity meeting
Pleasant Valley School District will hold its diversity meeting at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday.
