Two people were committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, on numerous charges after a clash with state police at the Fern Ridge barracks that started with a shoplifting incident.
Police said Kristen M. McCloskey, 37, and Stephen McCloskey, 36, are charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, retail theft and driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked.
Police were called at 8:23 p.m. April 28 to Kinsley’s ShopRite in Chestnuthill for a report that a man and woman entered the store, filled a shopping cart and left the store without paying.
Police said security agents stopped the woman outside the store and the man to their vehicle and drove to the front of the store where Kristen McCloskey and security personnel were. They said the woman pushed past the security agent as he was speaking to Stephen McClosky and the couple fled the scene, causing minor injuries to the security person.
Police said they were identified and apprehended at a residence in Blakeslee. They said at the time they were apprehended they were in the process of changing their hair color.
They were taken to the state police barracks, processed and jailed.
