Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville Criminal Investigation Unit have charged a former teen employee of Giant for food tampering.
Police said the teen is charged with placing 11 needles in merchandise at the Giant in Lower Macungie Township.
Three counts of recklessly endangering another person and one count of criminal mischief are being sent to Lehigh County Juvenile Court.
Items affected are bagged vegetables and individual Tastykake packaging, King Hawaiian Bread Rolls and StarKist Light Tuna Large pouch (pouches larger than 2.6 oz).
Troopers are recommending customers who have purchased grocery items from this store between Thursday, April 13, and Wednesday, April 19, check the purchased items for any tampering.
Anyone who suspects the packages have been tampered are asked to return these items to Giant and contact the Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville Criminal Investigation Unit at 610-395-1438.
Customers who utilized a Giant rewards card that is on file have been contacted if an item they purchased was possibly affected.
No injuries have been reported.
