Tamaqua approves concession stand lease for pool
Those who visit Tamaqua’s community pool this season won’t have to pack their own food and drinks.
On Tuesday, borough council approved a lease for the concession stand at the H.D. Buehler Memorial Pool at Bungalow Park.
The agreement with Clyde Bachert will be enacted after a review by borough solicitor Anthony Odorizzi.
The stand did not operate last year because no vendors expressed an interest in opening it.
Borough Manager Kevin Steigerwalt noted that borough crews will begin cleaning the pool early next month. Opening day is scheduled for May 27 at 11 a.m.
Applications for season passes are available from the Tamaqua Municipal Building, Tamaqua Post Office, Tamaqua Public Library, Fegley’s Mini-Mart and Our Family Mini-Mart. They are also available online at the borough website, tamaquaborough.com, and the borough Facebook page, www.facebook.com/TamaquaBorough
Forms, including payment and proof of residency, must be dropped off or mailed to the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, PA 18252. Checks and money orders must be made payable to Borough of Tamaqua. A drop box is at the main entrance.
Season passes for Tamaqua Area School District residents are $15 per person. The discounted rates are made possible through a donation from the John E. Morgan Foundation.
Season pool passes for people who live outside the district are $100 per person.
Daily passes for district residents are $5 on weekdays and $6 on weekends, and $15 on weekdays and $20 on weekends for nonresidents. Daily passes for all children under 6 years old are $1 per day.
