State police at Fern Ridge - thefts

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported on theft cases:

• A 72-year-old man from Effort is the victim of a credit card/theft by deception incident reported at 2:37 p.m. April 10.

Police said they were called to a residence on Upper Ridge Road, Chestnuthill Township, where the victim told them his credit card number became compromised by someone who used it to make an online purchase for $732.15 from Ticketmaster.

Police said the man noticed the purchase on his bank statement and notified Chase bank, which refunded him the money.

• A 69-year-old Albrightsville woman is the victim of a theft/crime by deception incident.

Police said the woman, who lives along Parker Mews, Penn Forest Township, told them someone contacted her through an unknown computer application and advised her there were issues with her bank account.

Police said the person conned the woman into getting $855 worth of gift cards. She sent the numbers off the cards to the actor to supposedly rectify the account.

• A 68-year-old Albrightsville man reported theft by disposition of funds incident that state police at 2:36 p.m. April 6.

Police said they were called to a residence along Nash Trail in Penn Forest Township where the man reported fraudulent checks were cashed in the victim’s company name.

Police said the victim was fully reimbursed by the bank.

• A 34-year-old Effort woman reported at 4 p.m. April 9 that medications and a hoodie were stolen from her home.

She told police she left her boyfriend stay at the residence along Penn Forest Trail, Penn Forest Township, for the night and after returning home, she discovered the items missing.

Police said the hoodie was retrieved but the medication was not.

•A 62-year-old Brodheadsville woman is facing charges of retail theft/shoplifting after police were summoned to the CVS store at the intersection of routes 115 and 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they were called there at 3:55 p.m. March 12 after the woman was observed on video surveillance stealing multiple items from the store. They included a printed sleeve tunic worth $19.99 and a tie valued at $22.

• Police are investigating a burglary reported to them at 12:27 a.m. March 19.

It happened at a residence on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township where an Effort man reported someone removed flooring, kitchen cabinets and tools from the home while it Is under construction.
