The identity of a woman who died after a crash during a police pursuit early Thursday morning has been released.
Monroe County Coroner Tom Yanac Jr. identified the woman as Lidia Burgos, of Reading.
Burgos was a passenger in a vehicle that crashed after Stroudsburg state police barracks initiated a traffic stop for moving equipment violations and suspicion of DUI in Stroud Township.
Police said the driver had an active arrest warrant and refused to exit the vehicle, becoming combative at the traffic stop.
The driver fled the scene, and troopers pursued the vehicle for about 19 miles before it crashed into a wooded area.
Fire departments extricated the driver and a passenger from the vehicle and transported them to nearby hospitals for injuries sustained in the crash.
Police said Burgos, also a passenger, was dead at the scene.
Route 611 was closed at Prospect Street to Interstate 380,. Hap Arnold Boulevard to the Army Depot from Interstate 380 was closed, and the Exit 8 off ramp from Interstate 380 South was closed.
Police have released no other details at this time.
