Track & Field Roundup: Results from April 19

The Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley and Lehighton track and field teams all recorded sweeps on Wednesday.

Jim Thorpe-Panther Valley-

Shenandoah Valley-Tamaqua

Panther Valley and Jim Thorpe posted sweeps in a Schuylkill League meet at Tamaqua.

The Panther boys and girls both topped Shenandoah Valley, while the Olympians notched victories on both sides against the Blue Raiders.

Jim Thorpe’s Kaila O’Connor won the 100, 200 and 300 hurdles. Aubrey Bonner (800, 1600) and Katrin Cavanaugh (triple jump, pole vault) also had a pair of wins in the girls meet.

Kolby Cavanaugh won the 300 hurdles, triple jump and high jump for the Olympians, who improved to 4-0. Tamaqua’s Anthony Marchetti won the 1600 and 3200.

Austin Hadley and Izabella Bochicchio won the boys and girls shot put events for the Panthers.

Pottsville-Lehighton

The Lehighton boys and girls posted wins over Pottsville in Schuylkill League action.

The Indians scored an 88-61 over the Tide on the boys’ side, and recorded an 86-63 victory in the girls’ meet.

Equan Warner (110H, 300H), Brielle Frable (800, 1600), Madylin Wolter (discus, javelin) and Haley Ginder (triple, high jump) all had multiple first-place finishes for the Tribe.
