A Slatington man has been charged with possessing nearly $370,000 worth of methamphetamine.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Narcotics Agent Thomas Sedor of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General in the case against David Rockel:
Sedor conducted a search warrant at Rockel’s residence in the 1200 block of Fourth Street, at which time digital scales, multiple firearms (handguns and rifles), heat sealer, owe sheets, money counter, and other forms of drug paraphernalia commonly used in the distribution of methamphetamine.
Sedor then conducted a search warrant at Rockel’s storage locker, Budget Store & Lock Self Storage along Route 873. Agents located about 3,677.1 grams of a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, a digital scale and a money counter.
Sedor’s estimated the street value of the methamphetamine seized from Rockel’s storage locker at $367,710.
Agents also located $3,516, and a .25 caliber Browning pistol on Rockel, who has a conviction on Sept. 8, 1994 in Carbon County Common Pleas Court, which makes him prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Rockel, 59, admitted to distributing methamphetamine at his residence, and storage locker as identified.
Rockel faces charges of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; and persons not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell or transfer firearms.
Rockel is incarcerated in the Lehigh County Prison in lieu of $500,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing April 26 at the Lehigh County Courthouse in Allentown.
