Plans were unveiled last night for an 81-bed expansion to the Mahoning Valley Convalescent Home, Mahoning Township, and for the construction of a 28-unit retirement villa adjacent to the center.

About 25 people were present during a meeting in the home’s auditorium, where the plans were detailed by Bob Hughes of the Hughes-Harrison Consulting firm, Allentown, who said the 39-bed unit will be expanded to 120 beds to make the center “totally certified for skilled nursing care.”

The extension and villas will be constructed by Norman Berger, owner, who will finance the cost that is expected to be in excess of $1 million.
