Local Roundup: Results from April 15

Panther Valley’s Bradley Hood pitched a no-hitter Saturday as the Panther remained undefeated.

Northern Lehigh’s Emma Smith tossed a one-hit shutout, while Madisyn vonFrisch fired a two-hit shutout in softball action.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Valley’s girls lacrosse team stayed unbeaten with a win over Danville.

BASEBALL

Panther Valley-Tamaqua

Bradley Hood pitched a no-hitter to lead Panther Valley to a 15-0 non-league victory over Tamaqua.

Hood walked one and stuck out 11 in his six innings of work, helping the Panthers remain undefeated at 9-0.

Michael Pascoe continued his hot hitting, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs. Stephen Hood added a pair of doubles, scored twice and knocked in three, while Tyler Black contributed two hits, a run and three RBIs.

The winners, who led 7-0 after three innings and closed out the game with a seven-run sixth frame, also received a pair of hits, two runs and an RBI from Hayden Goida. Cody Orsulak chipped in with two hits, and Trey McAndrew finished with two RBIs.

The loss dropped Tamaqua to 5-3.

SOFTBALL

Emma Smith tossed a one-hitter as Northern Lehigh cruised to a 10-0 non-league victory over Jim Thorpe.

Smith walked one, struck out three, and received plenty of offensive support.

Kaitlyn Stock had two hits and knocked in three runs for the Bulldogs, who used a five-run second inning to take control. Jordyn Hemingway and Kylee Snyder both added two hits, two runs and an RBI.

The winners, now 7-3, also received a pair of hits and two runs from Arabella Heintzelman, while Cadence Peters collected a hit, scored twice and knocked in a run.

The loss dropped the Olympians to 1-8.

Weatherly-Hanover

Another strong outing by Madisyn vonFrisch helped Weatherly roll past Hanover, 12-0, in non-league action.

vonFrisch tossed all five innings, allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out 11. She also helped her own cause with two hits, two runs and two RBIs.

The Wreckers, who improved to 6-3, also received three hits - one a triple - and three runs from Kelly Michaels. Raynessa Paulino-Diaz contributed three hits, one a double, and two RBIs, while Rachel Rosenlund finished with a pair of hits and two RBIs.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Pleasant Valley-Danville

Devon Bush scored eight goals to help Pleasant Valley gain a 15-10 victory over Danville and remain undefeated.

Olivia Iandalo added three goals and an assist as the Bears improved to 9-0.

PV, who recorded 10 of its goals in the first half, also received two tallies and a helper from Rylee Rath. Riley Green and Madison Fava both chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Morgan Ryals contributed two assists.

TENNIS

Palmerton-Pen Argyl

Palmerton swept singles play to earn a 3-2 Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.

Justin Sebelin, Riley Falon and Tyler Hager all posted straight-set wins to lead the Blue Bombers.

Palmerton is now 5-6 overall, while the Knights fell to 4-7.
