Nick Cirranello of Sciota has taken the initiative to run for Monroe County sheriff in 2023.
A Democrat, Cirranello grew up in Saylorsburg and is a graduate of Pleasant Valley High School and East Stroudsburg University.
He is currently a current deputy sheriff, with extensive law enforcement training and experience.
Cirranello spent five years with the New York City Police Department, where he graduated from what is considered by many to be the greatest police academy in the world. He also received federal training and counterterrorism training at that time.
Cirranello has also spent time working in smaller departments such as Hellertown Police Department and Moravian College Police, and now as a deputy in the Monroe County Sheriff Office. He said overall his experience makes him a well-rounded candidate for the position.
He plans to promote more community outreach from the department, more efficient use of county resources, and restore respect toward the sheriff’s office.
He said he plans to work every day alongside his deputies and higher ranking staff, forming a team environment which has not been present during the last four years.
Cirranello said he has exclusive access to training from other law enforcement agencies, which he will provide to his office.
He said he will work alongside corrections officers while serving on its prison board for safer conditions in the Monroe County Correctional Facility. Nick has been endorsed by Teamsters Local 773, which represents Monroe County Correctional Facility and many other local agencies.
“A vote for Nick is a vote for real experience and real results,” he said.
