Local Roundup: Results from April 14
Palmerton, Marian and Northwestern all picked up victories in baseball and softball on Friday.
Also recording wins were the Weatherly baseball team, the Panther Valley softball team, and the Lehighton tennis squad.
BASEBALL
Northwestern-Wilson
Chase Moyer and Shaun O’Donnell combined to toss a two-hit shutout as Northwestern defeated Wilson, 4-0, in Colonial League action.
Moyer went six innings to pick up the victory. He allowed a pair of hits, walked three and struck out 11 for reaching his pitch count limit. O’Donnell pitched a perfect seventh, striking out all three batters he faced.
The top of the Northwestern (6-6, 3-3) batting order did the majority of the damage offensively as the first three hitters combined for all eight of the Tigers’ hits, all four RBIS and scored two of their runs. Leadoff batter Wesler George went 4-for-4 with two runs scored; Joshua Lichman had a hit and two RBIs; and Robert Croneberger had three hits and knocked in a pair of runs.
Zak Kardos had both of the hits for Wilson (6-4, 3-3.

Palmerton-Pen Argyl
Palmerton unleashed a 13-hit attack to down Pen Argyl, 8-3, in a Colonial League game.
Cole Serfass had two hits, two RBIs and scored three runs to lead the Blue Bomber attack. Daniel Lucykanish (two hits, two runs); Trey Sterling (three hits, one run, one RBI); Brayden Hosier (two hits, two RBIs); and Cameron Pengelly (two hits, one RBI) also had big games for Palmerton (7-3, 5-3).
Brad Rissmiller had three hits for Pen Argyl (5-5, 5-5).

Marian evened its record after cruising to a 15-0 non-league victory over Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg.
Brian Hinkle had two hits, one a double, scored two runs and knocked in a pair to help the Colts improve to 5-5.
Winning pitcher Kaiden Nolasco allowed just one hit and struck out six during his three innings of work.
Chase Petrilyak and Cory Nolasco both finished with a double and three RBIs, while Dylan Zullo contributed a double and two RBIs. Michael Gelatko chipped in with a hit and two runs.

The top of the lineup produced for Weatherly, as the Wreckers earned an 8-4 non-league victory over Lincoln Leadership.
Ian McLaurin and Tanner Hinkle, the team’s No. 1 and 2 hitters combined for four hits, four runs and an RBI. Both players had a pair of hits and a couple of runs.
Weatherly, which gained control with a four-run second inning, also received two hits and a run from both Klaus Eroh and Raymond Montz, while Dylan Buck chipped in with a hit and an RBI.

Pleasant Vy.-Wallenpaupack
Greg VanGorder’s bases-loaded single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Wallenpaupack to a 6-5 non-league victory over Pleasant Valley.
The Bears (6-4) had tied the game in the sixth on a two-out single by Zach Pandolfo.
Michael Konopke had a single and scored twice for Pleasant Valley, which was held to just four hits in the game. Jack Smale had a hit and scored a run.
Jordan Santiago had three hits and two RBIs for Wallenpaupack.

Notre Dame ES-Marian
Another strong outing by Morgan Kelly helped Marian gain an 8-1 non-league victory over Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg.
Kelly struck out 16 batters and allowed just one run as the Fillies improved to 8-1.
Anna Grabosky collected two hits, one a triple, and knocked in three runs for the winners, who took control with a five-run first inning.
Jackie Guth and Zoe Katona both added a single and a double, with Guth also scoring a pair of runs.

Panther Vy.-LL
Mikayla Yuricheck had a huge offensive game to help power Panther Valley to a 20-1 non-league victory over Lincoln Leadership.
Yuricheck had four hits, including two home runs, and eight RBIs. Her first homer, a three-run shot came during a 12-run first inning. Her second, another three-run blast, came in the second.
The Panthers (4-6) also received a single, double and two RBIs from Kyla McQuillen, while Morgan O’Brien added a pair of hits and an RBI.
Winning pitcher Ava Alabovitz allowed just two hits in the three-inning contest, and struck out two. She also chipped in with a double and an RBI.

Palmerton-Pen Argyl
Palmerton rode the pitching and hitting of Carly Gaffney to a 13-0 Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.
Gaffney tossed a three-inning shutout and also collected three doubles and an RBI at the plate.
The Blue Bombers, now 7-4 overall and 6-3 in the league, received three hits and three RBIs from Mikayla Pengelly, while Megan Matsko added a double, homer and three RBIs.
The loss dropped the Green Knights to 6-2.
Northwestern-Wilson
Northwestern rolled to a 15-5 Colonial League victory over Wilson.
No other information on the game was received by the Times News.
TENNIS
Pottsville-Jim Thorpe
Pottsville downed Jim Thorpe, 4-1.
The Olympians, who fell to 0-13 on the season, got a victory at No. 1 singles from Jaxson Gehris.
The Crimson Tide (2-6) was aided by forfeit victories at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles.
