April 14, 2010 - Tamaqua’s Garth Lakitsky is named the Times News Wrestler of the Year after posting a 38-5 record. The Blue Raider junior, who wrestled at 189 pounds, finishes the season with 27 pins. During the year, Lakitsky captures a Schuylkill League championship and earns tournament titles at Bloomsburg and Mount Carmel. He places second at both districts and regionals, losing close bouts to Saucon Valley’s Ian Gimbar in both finals. At states, Lakitsky wins his first two matches and ends up with a fourth-place finish.
