Three area teams remain undefeated
The Marian softball, Panther Valley baseball and Pleasant Valley girls lacrosse teams all kept their undefeated seasons intact on Tuesday.
BASEBALL
Jim Thorpe-Lehighton
Ian and Aidan Rarick powered Lehighton to a 16-6 Schuylkill League win over Jim Thorpe.
The brothers each had four hits apiece for the Tribe (7-3). Ian finished with six RBIs and three runs scored to go along with two doubles and a triple, while also striking out eight in four innings on the mound and surrendering two earned runs and three hits. Aidan doubled and had two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Brady O’Donnell also had two hits and knocked in a run and scored twice as Lehighton pushed across five runs in the sixth inning for the mercy rule win.
Garrett Lienhard had a pair of hits, including a double, and scored twice for the Olympians (2-7), who made it 8-6 with five runs in the top of the fifth inning. Jack Edwards also had a hit with two RBIs and a run scored.

Marian-Shenandoah Valley
Kaleb Maksimik pitched Shenandoah Valley to a 4-2 Schuylkill League victory over Marian.
Maksimik started and fired 15 strikeouts on his way to recording a combined two-hitter with relief pitchers Chase McCole and Brayden Maksimik. Jake Matta led the Blue Devils (6-3; 2-2) with two doubles, a single and added three RBIs.
Brian Hinkle and Michael Gelatko accounted for the Colts’ two hits.
Gelatko got the Colts (4-4 overall; 2-2 SL) on the board with an RBI-double in the third inning, and later scored in the inning on a fielding error by the Blue Devils.

Northern Lehigh-Wilson
Wilson posted a 7-0 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.
Shawn Danielson held the Bulldogs to five hits over six innings for the Warriors (5-3).
Nicklaus and Brayden Buskirk each had multi-hit games for the Bulldogs (1-8) in the shutout loss. Tyler Fenstermaker collected the other Northern Lehigh hit.

Mahanoy Area-Panther Valley
Stephen Hood clubbed two home runs for Panther Valley in a 17-1 rout of Mahanoy Area in Schuylkill League play.
Michael Pascoe and Logan Fisher also homered for the Panthers (7-0), while Brennan Kunkel scored three runs.

Pleasant Valley-Whitehall
Pleasant Valley knocked off Whitehall for a 7-2 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win.
Nate Mostosky got the scoring going for the Bears (6-4 overall; 5-4 EPC) with a two-run homer in a four-run fourth inning, while Nathan Loch connected for a solo shot in the next inning.
Nate Mostosky added a double, while Loch chipped in with a single and finished with three RBIs.
Michael Konopke also had a double, single, two runs scored and an RBI.
Dylan Carrara (two doubles, run scored) and Matt Rader (two singles, RBI) both finished with multiple hits for the Zephyrs, who fell to 6-2 overall and 6-2 in the EPC.

Pine Grove-Tamaqua
Carson Long’s three-run homer was the difference as Pine Grove topped Tamaqua for a 4-2 Schuylkill League win.
The Blue Raiders (4-2 overall; 2-2 SL) jumped out first with a two-run opening inning, as Luke Kane delivered a sacrifice fly to score Lucas Milot, who opened the inning with a walk. Mason Ligenza, who reached base on a single first, later scored on a Lucas Kamant fielder’s choice RBI.
The next inning, Long cranked a three-run home run to put the Cardinals ahead. Brian Unger’s fielder’s choice RBI added an insurance run for the Cardinals (3-2; 2-2) in the seventh inning.

Morgan Kelly fired 18 strikeouts and Marian prevailed for a 5-4 Schuylkill League win over Shenandoah Valley.
Kelly allowed two walks and four hits. Alisa Heisey had a double and two runs scored for the Fillies (7-0), who drew 16 walks, while Malina Letcher added a single and an RBI and Danica Karleck also singled.

Panther Valley had a big day at the plate in a 16-6 win over Mahanoy Area.
Mikayla Yuricheck went 3-for-4 with two singles, a triple and three RBIs, while Morgan O’Brien also added two doubles with five RBIs for the Panthers (3-5).
Ava Alabovitz struck out five batters and knocked in two runs in the win. Brenna McAndrew also knocked in two runs.

Devon Bush and Rylee Rath each scored five goals for the Bears (7-0). Bush scored her 100th-career point.
Olivia Iandoli also put up four goals for Pleasant Valley.
The Spartans fall to 6-2.
