About 1,500 people attended the fundraising auction on Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church and Parish House in Lehighton, an event that was held to obtain additional funding for the razing of the church at Third and Iron streets to build a larger church at the same location.

The auction featured so much merchandise that organizers decided to continue the event next Saturday.

Lehighton auctioneer William Miller oversaw the bidding that started at 10 in the morning and continued until 7 p.m. Among the items sold were stained glass windows, the altar, pulpit and lectern. Pastor Paul Spohn said the daylong festivities netted nearly $9,100.
