Lehighton graduate Isabelle Meckes is enjoying a stellar season with the DeSales University track and field team.

The senior took home first place in the discus, leading the DeSales University women’s track & field team at the Muhlenberg College Invitational this past weekend.

Meckes had her second straight strong performance in the discus, taking first with a top toss of 42.88m.

Meckes – who, along with teammate Amelia Smith, were both recently honored as MAC Track and Field Athlete of the Week – had an extraordinary opening weekend, taking fourth place in the discus at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Invitational at Lynchburg College with a school-record throw of 44.81m, besting her own personal school-record achieved last season.

In addition, her throw ranked No. 1 in the entire country through the first weekend of competition.

DeSales is back in action on April 14 competing at the Bucknell Distance Night, and April 15 at the Messiah University Invitational.
