Local roundup: Results from April 5
The Pleasant Valley baseball and softball teams each recorded wins on Wednesday.
Elsewhere, the Marian and Northern Lehigh softball teams, as well as Northwestern baseball also posted victories.
BASEBALL
Pen Argyl-Northwestern
Northwestern rolled to a 12-2 Colonial League win over visiting Pen Argyl.
Erik Mather paced the Tigers (4-5 overall; 3-3 CL) with two singles, three runs scored and two RBIs, while Aidan Freeman added two singles and three RBIs.
Justin Augustus (two singles, two runs scored, RBI), Robert Croneberger (two singles, a run scored, two RBIs) and Chase Moyer (two singles, two runs scored, two RBIs) all added big days in the 12-hit attack.
Nicholas Haros led the Green Knights (3-3; 2-2) with a single, double and an RBI.

Dieruff-Pleasant Valley
Ty Borger tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout to lead Pleasant Valley to an 8-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Dieruff.
Leadoff hitter Nathan Loch finished a home run short of the cycle and added three runs scored and an RBI for the Bears (4-4, 4-4 EPC). Kole Henry and Michael Konopke both recorded two singles, a run scored and an RBI.
Jean Varela and Frandy Guzman had both hits for the Huskies, who slip to 0-8 overall and 0-8 in the EPC.

Lehighton-Pine Grove
Pine Grove turned back Lehighton for a 4-3 win to hand the Indians their first Schuylkill League setback of the season.
The Tribe (5-3 overall; 3-1 SL) staged a rally in the top of the seventh inning, as Nick Barndt recorded an RBI single and Aiden Rarick added a fielder’s choice RBI to plate Ian Rarick and Michael Yeakel and make it a one-run game.
Garrett Brandt led the Cardinals (2-2; 1-2) with two singles, two runs scored and an RBI.

Salisbury picked up where it left off in a suspended game from Monday, March 27 to come out on top with a 10-2 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.
Jacob Bucchin led the way for the Falcons (4-3, 3-2), as he recorded two singles, two runs scored and three RBIs, while Matthew Nunez finished with two singles, a run scored and two RBIs.
Nick Buskirk, Jack Tosh, Reese Lipsky and Brayden Buskirk all had hits for the Bulldogs (1-7 overall; 1-5 CL).

Lehighton-Pine Grove
Pine Grove came away with a 10-6 Schuylkill League victory over Lehighton.
Trailing 1-0 after three innings of play, the Indians erupted for a five-run fourth to take a 5-1 lead. But the Cardinals answered with a six-run sixth to take the lead for good.
Addison Zimmerman paced the Cardinals (5-2; 2-2) with three singles, two runs scored and an RBI, while Abigail Wolfe added three singles and a run scored.
Eryn Mertz led the Indians (3-4 overall; 1-3 SL) with two singles, two runs scored and an RBI, while Amy Dwojewski added a single, triple and two RBIs.
Maggie Pagotto (two singles, a run scored), Anna Laible (two singles) and Abbie Miller (two singles, a run scored, RBI) all contributed with multiple hits for Lehighton.

Madison Dorshimer pitched a gem as Pleasant Valley cruised to a commanding 15-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Dieruff.
Dorshimer allowed one hit in three innings of work, struck out four and didn’t surrender a walk to earn the win in the circle.
The Bears (4-3 overall; 4-3 EPC) gave Dorshimer plenty of offense, as Madeline Worden led the way with a single, double, two runs scored and three RBIs.
Hailey Krock (single, double, run scored) and Jovie Valenzuela (single, double, two runs scored, two RBIs) also added multiple hits.
Mia Monet recorded the lone hit for the Huskies (0-6; 0-6) with a single.

Panther Valley-Marian
Morgan Kelly recorded her 400th-career strikeout to highlight Marian’s three-inning 17-2 Schuylkill League Division 3 win over Panther Valley.
Kelly allowed two hits and posted five strikeouts to earn the win. She also had a big day at the plate with a single, double, three runs scored and two RBIs.
Jackie Guth recorded three singles and three runs scored for the Fillies, while Malina Lecher (single, double, two runs scored, four RBIs) and Anna Grabosky (two singles, three RBIs) both finished with multiple hits.
Ava Alabovitz and Mikayla Yuricheck accounted for the Panthers’ two hits.
Marian remains unbeaten at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the league, while Panther Valley slides to 1-5 and 0-2.

In a continuation of a suspended game from Monday, March 27, Northern Lehigh cruised to a 17-2 Colonial League win over Salisbury.
Jordyn Hemingway led the Bulldogs (5-2 overall; 4-2 CL) with a single, double, two runs scored and four RBIs. Adriana Danyluk added a single, triple, two runs scored and an RBI.
Riley Knecht added an extra-base hit for the Falcon(S) (1-6; 0-6), with a double and a run scored.
