Carbon County court sentencings
Carbon County President Judge Roger N. Nanovic sentenced several defendants this week:
Shara Marie Seidler, 38, of Nesquehoning, was charged by Jim Thorpe Police Officer Ryan J. Poeldnurk with possession of a controlled substance; possession of marijuana; and two counts of drug paraphernalia on Oct. 28, 2021.
She pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia, and Judge Nanovic sentenced her to one year on probation.
The judge also ordered Seidler to pay court costs; pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee; undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, and submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.
Kevin Joseph Ziegler, 33, of Nesquehoning, was charged by Lansford Police Officer Rich J. Callen with criminal trespass - breaking into a structure; defiant trespass - posted; and defiant trespass - into a fenced/enclosed area, on Oct. 5, 2022.
He pleaded guilty to criminal trespass, and Judge Nanovic fined him $300 and ordered him to pay a $100 LiveScan fee.
Brian Kehl, 40, of Slatington, was charged by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Agent Crystal Adames with two counts of being an employee of a corrupt organization; two counts of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance; conspiracy; and conspiracy to manufacture, delivery, or possess a controlled substance.
All of the charges are felonies.
He pleaded guilty to the corrupt organizations charge, and Judge Nanovic sentenced Kehl to serve 27 to 54 months in state prison, followed by three years on state probation.
He was given credit for the 243 days he’d already served.
Judge Nanovic also ordered keel to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, and submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee, and ordered him to pay a $75 LiveScan fee.
On the possession with intent to deliver charge, Kehl was given the same sentence, to be served concurrently.
Stalin Paulino Jr., 20, of Hazleton, was charged by Lehighton Police Officer Bruce T. Broyles with driving under the influence and driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Sept. 3, 2022.
Judge Nanovic accepted him into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for one year.
Acceptance into the program is not an admission of guilt. Defendants who successfully complete ARD may have their records expunged.
Paulino was ordered to pay $600 to offset the cost of the program; pay a $100 LiveScan fee; pay a $50 monthly supervision fee; surrender his license for 90 days; successfully complete the Alcohol Highway safety program; and enroll in an intensive outpatient treatment program.
Sarah Jane Reday, 35, of Spring Grove, York County, was charged by Leighton State Trooper Justin A. Swartz with disorderly conduct on July 3, 2022.
Judge Nanovic sentenced her to serve one year on probation, to be served concurrently with any other sentence she is serving; obtain drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations; complete anger management classes; pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee.
Michael Carl Roman, 55, of Quakertown, Bucks County, was charged by Nesquehoning Police Officer Michael G. Weaver with possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; driving an unregistered vehicle; operating a vehicle without a valid inspection sticker; and driving a vehicle with a suspended registration.
Roman pleaded guilty to the paraphernalia charge, and Judge Nanovic sentenced him to six days to 12 months in the Carbon County Prison, to be served concurrently with a sentence he’s serving in Warren County, New Jersey and with credit for the six days he’d already served; pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee; and obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.
Katie Marie Shainline, 33, of Nesquehoning, was charged by Lansford Police Officer Rich J. Callen with criminal trespass; institutional vandalism of an educational facility; resisting arrest; and defiant trespass on Oct. 5, 2022.
She pleaded guilty to the trespass and vandalism charges, and Judge Nanovic sentenced her to serve one year on probation and to pay a $50 monthly supervision fee on the vandalism charge, and to the same sentence on the trespass charge, to be served concurrently.
Jahlonda Mykier Taylor, 30, of Bloomsburg, was charged by Lansford Police Officer Jarrod J. Bulger with possession of drug paraphernalia; driving without a license; and improper sunscreening on April 9, 2019.
She pleaded guilty to the paraphernalia charge, and Judge Nanovic sentenced her to serve six months on probation; obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation; pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee.
Corey Miles Wentz, 48, of Lehighton, was charged by Mahoning Township Police Officer Audie M. Mertz with criminal trespass; defiant trespass; theft by deception; retail theft; and driving while his license was suspended; on Feb. 12, 2021.
He pleaded guilty to defiant trespass and theft by deception, and driving while his license was suspended.
Judge Nanovic sentenced him to serve one year on probation; repay $47.45 to the victim; pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee; and to be barred from entering Walmart on the trespass charge.
On the theft charge, Nanovic imposed the same sentence, to be served concurrently.
On the license charge, Nanovic fined Went $1,000 and ordered him to pay a $100 LiveScan fee.
Ashley L. Neff, 37, of Danielsville, Northampton County, was charged by borough Police Officer Shawn M. Nunemacher with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia on Nov. 10, 2021.
She pleaded guilty to the paraphernalia charge, and Judge Nanovic sentenced her to serve from one to 12 months in the Carbon County Prison, with credit for 72 days already served; to pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee; and to enroll in an intensive outpatient drug and alcohol program.
Jessica Lee Thorpe, 31, of Lansford, was charged by Lansford Police Officer Joshua P. Tom with possession of a controlled substance; possession of a small amount of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia on June 2, 2021.
She pleaded guilty to the paraphernalia charge, and Judge Nanovic sentenced her to serve one year on probation; to pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee; and to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.
