Fogelsville State Police
Fogelsville State Police recently reported several incidents that were investigated. Troopers did not identify the people involved unless otherwise noted.
• A 16-year-old New Tripoli boy sustained suspected minor injuries after a car he was driving crashed and flipped onto its roof at 8:01 a.m. March 13 on Miller Road in Lynn Township.
State police said he was transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps personnel to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
Police said he was driving a 2008 Dodge Challenger north when he was distracted by a cellular device. The car traveled off the roadway, striking an embankment and a tree before rolling onto its roof.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Police said the boy was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
• State police said the driver of a vehicle that struck a building in Lynn Township fled the scene of the incident that happened at 7:54 a.m. Feb. 21.
Police said they were called to a property on Autumn Lane in the township where they were told the unknown vehicle was backing under a porch on the side of the building when its right rear impacted the front left corner of the building, after which time the vehicle maneuvered forward and left the scene.
• Alexandria E. Saylor, 19, of Kempton, was cited by state police at the Fogelsville barracks for following too closely after a mishap at 5:20 p.m. March 3 on Route 100 in Lowhill Township.
Police said she was driving a 2017 Ford Focus too closely to a 2015 Hyundai Elantra operated by Johanna M. Klembara, 25, of New Tripoli, when she failed to stop for the Elantra having slowed and struck it in the rear. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Police said the two drivers reported minor injuries but refused medical treatment.
• Gregory A. Leon, 40, of New Tripoli, was uninjured in a two-vehicle incident that happened at 12:24 p.m. Feb. 22 on Route 22 in Upper Macungie Township.
State police investigated the incident which involved an unknown vehicle and operator and did not provide any details of the case except to say Leon was not hurt.
• Troopers were summoned March 2 to the 6200 block of Jefferson Court, Lynn Township, for a report of a dog bite.
The victim is a 32-year-old woman from New Tripoli who said she was at a residence there when the owner’s dog attacked her.
It happened between 11 p.m. March 1 and 1 a.m. March 2.
• State police at the Fogelsville barracks said the drivers of two vehicles involved in a crash at 6:54 a.m. March 6 on Interstate 78 in Salisbury Township were issued citations.
Police said Darnelle K. Holmes, 33, of Palmerton, was cited for driving while her operating privileges are suspended or revoked while Jordan T. Smith, 24, of Allentown, was cited for following too closely.
Police said the mishap occurred when Smith, driving a 2017 Ford Escape, failed to observe Holmes’ 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander slow down and the Escape struck the rear of her car.
Police said the Escape was towed from the scene while the Outlander was operational.
• Two people were hurt in a two-car head-on crash at 1:22 a.m. March 10 on Route 100 in Lowhill Township.
State police at the Fogelsville barracks said Diana N. Smits, 37, of Slatington, sustained serious injuries and was transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps personnel to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. The second person, identified only by police as a female from Slatington, was “not injured,” but she too was transported to the hospital.
Police said the crash occurred when a 2006 Audi driven by a 16-year-old New Tripoli boy was traveling at an excessive rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck a 2015 Toyota Corolla driven by Smits. Police said the impact of the collision pushed the Corolla over a guide rail and into a field, where Smits and the female from Slatington were trapped.
Police said the driver of the Audi was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
• A 29-year-old Walnutport man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop made by state police at the Fogelsville barracks.
Police said they stopped the 2018 Ford Fiesta in the 5200 block of Lower Macungie Road in Lower Macungie Township for multiple traffic violations, after which time he was arrested following the administration of standardized field sobriety tests.
The man was taken to the Lehigh County Booking Center for a blood test.
