Lehighton state police

Lehighton state police reported on the following incidents. Troopers did not identify the people involved.

• A 21-year-old Lehighton man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop made by state police at 1:45 a.m. March 11.

Police said they stopped the driver in a 2-14 Ford Escape at the intersection of White and Railroad streets in Bowmanstown.

• State police are investigating a break-in of a storage unit at Load and Lock, Interchange Road, Franklin Township.

Police said the victims, a 30-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, both from Jim Thorpe, reported the storage unit they were renting was broken into with multiple items having been determined to be missing.

• A 70-year-old Brodheadsville man reported an identity theft by deception on March 7.

Police said they were called to a property on Smith Hill Road, Jackson Township, where the man reported an incident involving fraudulent checks using his personal information.

Police said the incident happened between 9 a.m. Feb. 21 and 5 p.m. March 7. Police said the checking account had a value of $4,300.

• A 19-year-old woman from Lehighton is facing charges of driving under the influence of drugs after a one-vehicle crash at 1:14 p.m. March 14 at 1387 Rt. 903 in Penn Forest Township.

State police said the woman was taken into custody after the crash and a search warrant was executed on the 2001 Chevrolet Prizm.

• A 43-year-old man from Brodheadsville is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop they made at 2:32 a.m. Feb. 22 at the intersection of Karl Road and Rt. 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they stopped the man while driving a 2021 Jeep Wrangler for a Motor Vehicle Code violation.

• State police were summoned to investigate the theft of a garbage can at 2:11 p.m. March 18.

It happened at a property along Forest Drive in Lower Towamensing Township.

The victim is a 54-year-old woman from Palmerton.

The can is valued at $200, police said.

• State police are investigating the theft of multiple items from a PPL substation.

It happened between 2 p.m. Feb. 24 and midnight March 20 at the station located along Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township.

• A 42-year-old Kintnersville man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop made by state police at the Lehighton barracks.

Police said they stopped him in a 2008 Subaru at 6:33 p.m. March 11 at the intersection of Rt. 873 and Appalachian National Scenic Trail in Washington Township.

• A 44-year-old man from Kunkletown was charged by state police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop they made at 6:36 p.m. March 8 at the intersection of Chestnut Ridge Drive and Kunkletown Road in Eldred Township.

Police said they stopped the 2003 Chevrolet for Title 75 violations, after which time they determined the man to be under the influence.
