Monroe crashes

State police at Stroudsburg said the operator of a vehicle they attempted to stop on Interstate 80 in Hamilton Township fled the scene and led them on a chase before crashing.

Police said they attempted to stop the vehicle at mile marker 304. They said a 45-mile pursuit ensued before it was terminated but several miles later, the vehicle crashed at mile marker 240, after which time the driver fled the scene on foot.

• Louis S. Fox, 30, of Stroudsburg, was cited for “traffic control signals” by state police at Stroudsburg after a two-vehicle crash at 7:25 a.m. Feb. 27 on Route 611 in Hamilton Township.

Police said he was driving a 2010 GMC Sierra northbound when he disobeyed a red traffic signal, traveling through the intersection with an unnamed street and struck a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria driven by John K. Kopystecky, 66, of Stroudsburg. who sustained neck pain and was evaluated at the scene by St. Luke’s EMS personnel.

The vehicles did not require towing from the scene.
