State police at Fern Ridge

State police at Fern Ridge reported on several incidents:

• Police said a 7-year-old Saylorsburg girl admitted to falsifying a report that her adoptive mother struck her in the face.

The confession came after police were called at 2:54 p.m. Feb. 27 to a residence along Majestic Drive in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they received the report through ChildLine but found the allegation to be unfounded.

• Robert Martin, 46, of Bath, was charged after a background check denied him the purchase of a gun at 9:57 a.m. Sept. 9, 2021.

Police recently released the incident report, saying Martin entered Dunkelberger’s Sports Outfitter, 1571 Route 209, Chestnuthill Township, and attempted to buy a Glock 9-mm pistol.

Police said he completed the application/record of sale forms and a firearms transaction record.

When an employee of the store ran a background check on Martin through the Pennsylvania Instant Check System, police said he was denied the purchase due to the report and an investigation was conducted, resulting in criminal charges against Martin being approved by the Monroe County District Attorney’s office.

• A 65-year-old Albrightsville woman is the victim of a theft by deception case.

Police said they were called to South Old Stage Road, Penn Forest Township, at 12:32 a.m. March 2.

The woman said someone withdrew funds from her account via five electronic funds transfers, and also forged two of her personal checks.

The woman is out $5,022.41, police said.

• Police were summoned to a theft by deception attempt made on a 73-year-old man from Saylorsburg.

Police said they were called to a residence along Meckes Lane in Chestnuthill Township where the man said he received a call from an unknown person saying they represented the Pennsylvania State Police Troopers Association, seeking a donation.

Police said the man did not provide any information or financial support to the caller.

Police said the incident is a common scam that recipients should not fall for.

• Caitlyn Montelius, 29, of Albrightsville, was cited by state police at the Fern Ridge barracks with retail theft (shoplifting) after they were called to Kinsley’s ShopRite store in Brodheadsville at 3 p.m. March 1.

Police said she was caught stealing items worth $115.42 from the store.

• Police were summoned at 9:25 a.m. Feb. 22 to a property on Wylie Circle in Penn Forest Township to investigate a case of the dissemination of an intimate image.

But police said the report was one that was received two years ago and was handled then by authorities.

Police said the report was received through ChildLine, which related a child had taken an explicit video of herself and sent it out to an unknown male.

Police said they closed the file on the case after determining it was investigated when it was originally received.
