Ross Township supervisors

The Ross Township supervisors took the following action during their meeting Monday:

• Approved the hiring of a full-time receptionist, Melissann Frantz-Monaco. She will work 37½ hours a week at $15 per hour and receive benefits after a 90-day probation period.

• Changed their workshop meetings from the third Thursday to the last Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m.

• Road foreman Ethan Brewer’s report included roads proposed for paving, tarring and chipping this spring. The supervisors will put the roadwork out for bid.

• The park committee is planning a free Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8.

• Clean up days will be April 14 and 15. The fee schedule will remain the same, and is posted at https://rosstwp.com/about/recycletrash. The drop off area is in the rear of the municipal building.

• The Ross Township Historical Society announced it is hosting a book signing and presentation at 2 p.m. April 29. Authors Michael Mancuso and Eric J. Kerchner wrote “Etna: A Murder Out of Time,” which is based on a true story about Etna Bittenbender, a township resident. At age 17 in 1880, she was killed. This remains a cold case. The free event will be held at the historical society’s museum, 258 Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg.
