State police at Bethlehem
State police at Bethlehem reported the following cases:
• Veronica McNail, 61, and Jessie Williams, 81, both of Slatington, were charged with shoplifting after they were called at 7:19 p.m. Feb. 5 to Weis Markets, 5020 Route 873, North Whitehall Township.
Police said it is alleged the women stole merchandise with a combined value of $595.70 from the store on five different dates in December and January.
• Peter Vasdias, 52, of Slatington, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after they responded to a crash at the intersection of Route 309 and Brook Street in North Whitehall Township.
Police said it happened at 12:31 a.m. Nov. 7 when Vasdias was driving a 2009 Hyundai Sante Fe and showed indicators of being impaired after police responded to the crash.
• Troy Long, 57, of Slatington, is facing drug possession charges after police responded to a disturbance on Feb. 16 at 8528 Rextown Road, Washington Township.
Police said they were called there for a disturbance and observed Long in possession of a baggie containing a green, leafy substance that was determined to be marijuana.
• Terence Vandling, 37, of Lansford, is facing drug possession charges as a result of a traffic stop made at 8:49 a.m. Feb. 4 at the intersection of Cemetery Street and Route 873 in Washington Township.
Police said they stopped the 2010 Ford Expedition and found Vandling to be in possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver it.
• Police are investigating a theft by deception incident that happened between midnight Feb. 10 and 1:07 p.m. Feb. 11, along Cricket Drive in Heidelberg Township.
A 25-year-old woman from New Tripoli and a 28-year-old man from Mahanoy City said they fell victim to an apartment scam via Craigslist in Catasauqua. The stolen property included $500 that was wired in cash.
• Police are investigating the theft of money and drugs from two unlocked vehicles in North Whitehall Township. The victims are Miranda Diegert and Scott Ettwein, both 39, and from Schnecksville.
