Donerds to offer treats, coffee at second location in Bethlehem

Annabel Figueroa and Andy Underwood own the Donerds Donuts, 76 Broadway, Jim Thorpe.

Annabel is from Chile, where the couple met and fell in love.

They started their gourmet doughnut food truck with a 1981 Volkswagen bus in Santiago.

While the couple is here in the U.S., that bus remains in Chile, although they do have another they take to various locations to sell their taste tempting treats.

They proudly use the highest quality coffee with beans from La Colombe, Philadelphia, and Stumptown Coffee Roasters, Portland, Ore.

The name “Donerds” was crafted because Figueroa and Underwood think of themselves as “mad nerd scientists,” experimenting to make sure they have the best coffee and doughnuts possible.

With the success of the Jim Thorpe location, they will soon open a new shop at 3 E. 4th St., Bethlehem, by the end of April.

With the recent fasnacht day, the doughnut duo are experimenting with fasnacht dough and are considering a new twist on the original.

Their best-selling doughnut is a twist on the cannoli, a doughnut, with ricotta cheese filling, chocolate chips and powdered sugar.

Glazed, butter beer latte and chocolate hazelnut are also customer favorites, in addition to their macaroons.
