Winter weather advisory for icy mix today

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 3 p.m. today to 4 a.m. Saturday.

Mixed precipitation is expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected with ice accumulations of around two tenths of an inch. Winds are expected to gust as high as 40 mph.

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

Today: A chance of rain between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., then snow likely, possibly mixed with rain. Increasing clouds, with a high near 43. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tonight: Rain, snow, and sleet before 11 p.m., then rain, possibly mixed with sleet between 11 p.m. and midnight, then rain after midnight. The sleet could be heavy at times. Low around 33. Breezy, with an east wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday: A chance of rain, mainly between 8 a.m. and noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. North wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 52.
