S. Hill man facing drug charges, resisting arrest

A Summit Hill man is facing drug possession charges after his apprehension by state police at the Bethlehem barracks at 9:27 p.m. Feb. 17 with the assistance of a Carbon County sheriff’s deputy.

Police said Brian Kehl, 39, resisted arrest and struggled with police.

Police said Kehl was seen wearing a full ski mask in the Weis shopping store in North Whitehall Township by Carbon County Sheriff’s Deputy Ian Achberger. He was seen getting into the back seat of a Buick Encore.

Police said they stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Hill Road and Route 873 in Washington Township and found Kehl in the back seat of the car wearing the mask. Police said the struggle ensued as they got him outside of the vehicle, taking him into custody.

Police said while searching Kehl they found 2.1 grams of methamphetamine in his right pocket and a blue glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue on it in his other pocket.

Police said Kehl was apprehended with his girlfriend, and said she was contacted several times by troopers in the last two weeks regarding Kehl being wanted after he ran from two troopers.

Police said after being notified of Kehl’s warrant, his girlfriend continued to tell troopers his name was T.J., including on the week of Feb. 5 when she lied to two troopers upon giving them the same misinformation of Kehl’s name.
