Storm warning: 5-8 inches of snow expected
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning in effect from 5 p.m. today to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches.
Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact this evening’s commute and also the Tuesday morning commute.
Snowfall rates should reach around an inch per hour tonight. The highest snowfall totals should be at locations above 1500 feet in elevation. Some sleet may also mix in at times for portions of the area.

Today: A slight chance of rain between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow. Increasing clouds, with a high near 38. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Tonight: Rain, snow, and sleet before 1 a.m., then sleet between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., then snow after 2 a.m. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 30. East wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
Tuesday: Snow likely, possibly mixing with rain after 10 a.m., then gradually ending. Cloudy, with a high near 37. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 21. North wind around 5 mph.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon.
