Elementary Song Fest to be held in Palmerton

The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 10 Elementary Song Fest will take place at Palmerton High School on Tuesday, March 14. The snow date is March 16.

A total of 157 elementary school singers from 14 different school districts spanning sevent counties will come together with guest conductor, Kelly Rocchi of Nazareth High School, to advance their choral music education.

PMEA District 10 elementary choral directors nominated their top singers from fifth and sixth grade to participate in this event.

The selected performers have been working since January to prepare six choral pieces that they will perfect together at the Song Fest.

After an afternoon of hard work with their guest conductor, the newly created chorus will give a public performance at 7 p.m.

Co-hosts for the event are Natalie Madeira of Towamensing Elementary School and Athena Yeager of Pleasant Valley Intermediate School. They have been carefully planning the event since the start of the school year.

Festival Coordinator Debra Heiney continues to provide expert guidance to bring this and many other music Fests to students of PMEA District 10 annually.
