State police at Lehighton - DUI/drugs

State police at Lehighton reported on the following driving under the influence and drug possession incidents:

• A 48-year-old Lehighton man was charged for driving under the influence of a controlled substance after he was stopped while driving a 1996 Mercury Cougar at 11:33 a.m. Feb. 15.

Police said they stopped the driver for a Motor Vehicle Code violation at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and East Lizard Creek Road in Bowmanstown borough.

• A stop made for a Motor Vehicle Code violation ended up with the driver being arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Police said the driver was a 38-year-old woman from Palmerton, who was stopped at 3:32 a.m. Feb. 19 at the intersection of Interchange Road and Willow Street in Franklin Township.

Police said a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado and a 1998 Shoop’s horse trailer were involved in the incident.

• Police are charging a 31-year-old Parryville man for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a traffic stop at 9:09 p.m. Feb. 17.

Police said they stopped the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado on East Lizard Creek Road in East Penn Township.

• A suspect who was taken into custody at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 18 for active warrants was discovered to be in possession of controlled substances and will face drug possession charges, police said.

The apprehension took place at 475 Burger Hollow Road in Polk Township.

• A 35-year-old White Haven man is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop.

Police said they stopped the 2009 Pontiac for a Motor Vehicle Code violation at Bankway and East Bridge streets in Lehighton at 11:22 a.m. Feb. 15. The man was in possession of contraband.

Police did not release names in these incidents.
