The Palmerton Fire Department is the latest group to receive a donation from a Palmerton organization.
Crusaders for a Cause has donated four safety vests and four traffic wands to the borough’s fire police.
Christina Obrecht, president of Crusaders for a Cause, said the donation value was $524.
Obrecht said the funds were raised from the group’s 16th annual spring carnival in May in the borough park.
“We know exactly what it’s like to be (in need of equipment),” Obrecht said. “We know the work that’s always involved in (battling) a fire.”
Walter Haas, captain of the Palmerton fire police, said the group was extremely grateful for the donation.
“We needed a lot of stuff (and), they asked us if we wanted a donation,” Haas said. “They agreed to buy it, (and) we are really appreciative of it.”
Haas added that the fire police could always use more members.
“Anybody that wants to join,” he said. “We need a lot of fire police.”
In August, Crusaders for a Cause donated a set of light up traffic cones, a set of safety vets and traffic wands to the East Penn Township Fire Department.
Obrecht said that donation was for $500.
Crusaders for a Cause plans to hold its 17th annual spring carnival in May in the Palmerton Borough Park.
