State police at Frackville reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 8:53 a.m. on Jan. 27 along Manila Grove Drive at West Water Street in Coaldale.

Troopers said Maria C. Speranza, 46, of Tamaqua, driving a 2008 Toyota Matrix, was northbound on Manila Drive attempting to exit St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital property. Troopers said she attempted to stop and was unsuccessful due to icy road conditions. The car hit a curb causing disabling damages to the driver’s side front tire.

Speranza was not injured but the vehicle was towed.
