Truck avoids deer, strikes pole, house

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks said the driver of a Ford F550 truck avoided striking a deer but struck a utility pole and house in an incident at 11:57 a.m. Feb. 7.

It happened on North Easton Belmont Pike, south of the intersection with Rimrock Drive in Hamilton Township.

Police said Shawn J. Garber, 57, of Swiftwater, was northbound when the deer entered the roadway. He turned right and struck a utility pole before continuing off the shoulder of the road, striking the house, occupied at the time by Suzanne M. Labar, 48, of Stroudsburg. Neither Garber nor Labar were injured.

Police said the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Garber was cited for the crash.
