State police at the Stroudsburg barracks are investigating a theft incident in which the victim lost a large amount of cash.

Troopers said on Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. a 41-year-old female from Cresco arrived at the barracks in Hamilton Township and reported she received multiple phone calls from a no caller ID number, who related that she missed a jury trial and would be arrested is she did not cooperate. The female ultimately sent the caller $3,000 in Visa prepaid cards.

The investigation is continuing.
