State Police at Lehighton - crashes

State Police at Lehighton reported on the following crashes:

• Rahman A. Bass, 43, of Effort, was uninjured in a crash that happened at 9:45 a.m. Feb. 9 on Burger Hollow Road in Polk Township.

Police said he was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima southbound when the steering system of the vehicle began to malfunction. He lost control of the car and it veered off the shoulder off the road and struck a tree.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Police reported this week that two people suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 11:23 a.m. Dec. 30 on Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said Naomi Camacho, 72, and a 17-year-old boy, both from Albrightsville, were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, Stroudsburg, by personnel from the West End Ambulance.

Police said Camacho was driving a 2018 Jeep northbound and was approaching the intersection with Altemose Drive when she attempted to turn left. Police said instead of braking, she accelerated the Jeep and it struck an embankment on the west side of the road.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Tyler J. Ruth, 22, of Orwigsburg, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 7:03 p.m. Feb. 15 on West Lizard Creek Road in East Penn Township.

Police said he was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Cruz eastbound when he attempted to avoid striking a deer in the road. The car went into the westbound lane, struck a guardrail and ditch and came to rest facing east. It was towed from the scene.
