On Feb. 22, 13 students will travel to the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center to compete on the state level for the Distributive Education Clubs of America competition.

Those students competing are: Jalin Burns, Sapphira Marcozzi, Makenna Montefour, Breydon Hand, Gracie Heintzelman, Haley Kuehner, Kelsey Mehlig, Gracie Politi, Kamryne Smith, Brooklynne Winger, Emily Kemmerer, Hannah Devonshire, Montanna Costenbader.

Best of luck to all competitors. The CCTI community is proud of all of your accomplishments.

CTE Olympics will be held on Feb. 23 with Manufacturing & Transportation events and Feb. 27 will be Information Technology.

The winners of the CCTI door decorating contest are McKenzie McVicker and her first period classroom. The winners of CTE construction trade events are the culinary arts students.

Lehighton

Hello readers! We hope you have had a great week so far!

To start off we would like to congratulate our construction tech teacher Kevin Bond and his new family were recognized in Vegetable Growers News as a recipient of the 2023 Young Grower Award. Mr. Bond and his wife operate B & R Farms in Ringtown, which grows a variety of crops.

Congrats Mr. Bond!

Class dues for both juniors and seniors are due by Feb. 28. Your dues must be paid in order to receive paperwork for the senior outing as well as purchasing prom tickets.

Ninth grade student Brian Sebring received the Five Star Heart Scholarship for his character, work ethic, and athletic ability. Congratulations Brian.

11th grader Reese Balk was also named LVHN Athlete of the Week for wrestling, so it’s been quite the successful week for Lehighton.

Lehigh County Community College is holding an informational session for 10th grade students and parents at 6 p.m. Feb. 27 in the high school auditorium to discuss how students can enroll in dual enrollment classes to earn college credits.

CCTI applications are due to the guidance office by Feb. 28.

Seniors received their scholarship packets last week. They are due by Feb. 24, no exceptions. Over $275,000 are being awarded to Lehighton students, so they are all encouraged to apply to as many scholarships as possible.

Weatherly

Starting off the week for WASD, National Honor Society filled out and colored Valentine’s Day cards for the Heritage Hill Nursing Home.

The National Honor Society will also be holding a blood drive open to the public on March 1. We would like to congratulate the girl’s basketball team for making district playoffs. Play hard Wreckers!

Another congratulation is due to Madisyn VonFrisch, our January Senior of the Month.

Panther Valley

On Thursday, Feb. 9, junior basketball player Drew Kokinda smashed the school career record for the most three pointers scored in one game. This record previously stood at 9, and Kokinda ended the night with 11 three pointers after a 78-46 win over Weatherly’s boys basketball team.

Both the boys and girls basketball teams are moving onto the playoffs as they wrap up their season for the first time in quite a while, they will be playing on Feb. 25.

The Panther Valley Wrestling Team is ending their season with four match victories and will be hoping to send wrestlers off to Districts this week to gain some personal wins and potentially advance to regionals.

As winter sports come to an end, spring is coming and with that Panther Valley is getting ready to start the track and field season with some athletes participating in the indoor Kutztown Doug Wesner Invite getting in an early season start.

The Panther Valley Senior class is doing extensive fundraising for their Senior All Night Party and Senior Class trip.
