Events planned for veterans in Carbon County

Carbon County Veterans Affairs announces the following events:

• Vietnam Veteran Coffee and Camaraderie, Tuesday, from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Weatherly American Legion. RSVP by today by calling 570-325-3986. Open to all Vietnam era veterans. Sweethearts welcome. There will be for coffee, camaraderie, conversation and a special Valentine’s Day treat.

• Together with Veterans Quarterly meeting, Wednesday, from 9/11 a.m. at the Lehighton American Legion. Breakfast and conversation on the recent updates to the Compact Act that allows veterans in suicidal crisis to access free emergency health care at VA and non-VA health care facilities. This event is geared toward service-providers and those who serve veterans (medical professionals, law enforcement, local government agencies, etc). • Carbon County Veterans Resource Fair, Wednesday, from 3-6 p.m., at the Lansford American Legion. This event is being put on by U.S. Rep. Susan Wild’s office.

• 2nd Annual National Vietnam War Veterans Day Luncheon, March 28. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Lehighton American Legion. Open to all Vietnam Era veterans plus one guest. Keynote speaker is Dr. Glen Miller. RSVP required. Call 570-325-3986.

• The Scranton Vet Center provides local, weekly, in-person or virtual, veteran-specific counseling at the Veterans Hub of NEPA, located at St. Luke’s Lehighton Campus. Any veterans who are interested in one-on-one counseling may call Denise from the Scranton Vet Center at 570-344-2676. Weekly veteran support group sessions are also available; for more information or to register, contact Christine at 570-325-3986.
