Local Roundup: Results from Feb. 6
The Weatherly girls gained a dramatic overtime victory over Nativity on Monday.
In other action, the Marian girls finished league play undefeated. Also picking up wins were the Panther Valley and Jim Thorpe girls.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Nativity-Weatherly
Kelly Reiner’s driving bank shot with seven seconds left in overtime lifted Weatherly to a 43-41 Schuylkill League victory over Nativity.
The Wreckers led by five points with under a minute to play, but three-pointers by Madison Kramer and Delaney Walborn helped the Golden Girls force a tie.
In OT, Nativity took a lead on Hannah Zimetofsky’s trey, but a free throw by Emma Kane knotted the score again and set up Reiner’s heroics.
A desperation three by the visitors missed the mark, giving Weatherly its dramatic win.
Bethany Houser led the Wreckers with 20 points, while Reiner finished with 10. Nativity’s Kramer was the game’s high scorer with 23 points.
Weatherly improved to 5-15 overall, and 2-11 in the league. The Golden Girls fell to 5-14, and 3-9.

Panther Valley-Lehighton
Maddison Maynard poured in a game-high 30 points to help Panther Valley pull out a 54-46 Schuylkill League victory over Lehighton.
Maynard scored 20 of her points during the second half to help PV offset a halftime deficit.
The Panthers, who ended regular season play at 12-10 overall and 5-9 in the league, also received 12 points from Sera Robin. PV will now be off until the district playoffs.
Olivia Serfass posted a team-high 15 points for the Indians, who finished 5-17 overall and 3-11 in Schuylkill League action. Jordan Haley added 11 points, while Taylor Bowman contributed nine.

Pine Grove-Jim Thorpe
Jim Thorpe ended regular-season play on a positive note, earning a 43-30 Schuylkill League victory over Pine Grove.
Mackenzie Yuhas scored a game-high 19 points as the Olympians improved to 12-10 overall and 6-8 in the league.
Thorpe also received 13 points from Gabby Cinicola.
Marissa Stewart paced the Cardinals (12-10; 8-6) with 13 points.
Pine Grove will be competing in the upcoming league playoffs, while the Olympians are off until the district playoffs.

Mahanoy Area-Marian
Marian finished undefeated in Schuylkill League play after gaining a 64-30 victory over Mahanoy Area.
The Fillies raced out to a 26-6 first quarter lead as they improved to 20-1 overall and 14-0 in the league.
Kerrigan Digris led Marian with 15 points, Frankie Martinelli and Ashley Pleban both added 12 points, and Carly Minchhoff finished with 11 points - seven of them coming during the Fillies’ big opening frame.
The Golden Bears (4-18; 2-11) received a team-high 14 points from Olivia Kennedy.
Marian returns to action Tuesday in the Schuylkill League semifinals, where it will face the winner of the Blue Mountain and Tri-Valley game.

Blue Mountain-Tamaqua
Blue Mountain cruised to a 43-22 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua in both team’s season finale.
The Eagles - who received nine points from both Kylie Conway and Emily Heydt - used a 22-2 second quarter to take control.
Sarah Hope paced the Blue Raiders (6-16; 3-12) with five points.
Blue Mountain, now 19-3 overall and 12-2 in the league, will next play Tri-Valley in the quarterfinal round of the league playoffs.

Pocono Mountain West built an early lead en route to a 73-59 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Pleasant Valley.
Julian Pagan scored a game-high 28 points for the Panthers, who grabbed a 15-5 advantage after one quarter of play.
The Bears, who dropped to 9-11 overall and 7-9 in the EPC, received a team-high 21 points from Jarod Moore. Zachary Padolfo added 15 points, while Patrick Moore ended with 12.
West improved to 18-4 and 13-3.

Chase McArdle scored a game-high 15 points for the Panthers, while Jake Moyer finished with 12. Kaden Koerbler chipped in with eight, while Derek Lazar added seven.
For the Indians, White and Hauser both scored six points.

Panther Valley rolled to a 41-15 victory over Lehighton.
Cy Maynard hit four three-pointers in the first half and finished with a game-high 12 points. Tyler Hall chipped in with seven, while Brody Vermillion added five.
The Indians received a team-high four points from Zain Kresge.

The Panthers’ Lucy Kocha led all scorers with 13 points, while Megan O’Brien finished with 10. Reph led the Indians with six points.

Lehighton rolled to a 33-10 victory over Panther Valley.
The Indians’ Sittler finished with a game-high nine points.
Tamaqua-Weatherly
Millie Black scored 14 points to help Tamaqua gain a 45-6 win over Weatherly.
The Blue Raiders also received 11 points from Nico Conahan, while Joelle Zelonis added 10.
