A Carbon County driver was involved in a two-vehicle crash at 10:34 a.m. Jan. 20 in Luzerne County.

State police at Hazleton said the crash occurred at the intersection of North Church Street (Route 309), and West 23rd Street in Hazle Township.

Troopers said Jerald W. Furmanchin, 54, of Weatherly, driving a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, was attempting to make a left turn onto West 23rd from 309 and he turned into the path of a 2018 Hyundai Elantra driven by John A. Hoffman, 28, of Drums, Luzerne County.

Both drivers were not injured but a passenger with Furmanchin, Carol E. Furmanchin, 85, of Weatherly, was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton for treatment of a minor injury.

Troopers said both vehicles were towed. Furmanchin was cited for the crash.
